Assistant Producer, Visual Media

Now that I’ve gotten through my Montreal trip report, I can talk about more current stuff. I’ve now spent two weeks at my new job, and it’s been great. My coworkers are very happy with my work, and my new office is really nice. Hardwood floor, duel monitors, it is a good setup.

For the last three weeks I’ve been focusing mainly on a CANADA vs. RUSSIA junior game. As well as two moose commercial spots, one of which we went out and filmed using the MTS Centre cameras.

I guess the only complaint I have about the job is this; My place of work has been looking for a web developer for a while now. The two websites that the company has are complete messes. The people updating the site know nothing about web development, and have relied on copying and pasting code to make changes to the site.
When they found out I had web experience, I immediately became the go-to guy for web. This would be awesome, if I was also getting the web salary as well and didn’t have plenty of work to do already. I’ve put the word out to my old classmates who don’t have jobs already, because I really don’t feel like doing any web work anymore. Luckily, I’ve been told that I’ll be sitting in on the web developer interviews. Unfortunately, they are looking for someone with flash video/action script experience, which is quite hard to come by in Winnipeg.

*Game Day*
Game day is like any other day, except there is a air of tension throughout the office. Free buffet before the game. Running graphics run live in front of 13000 people is a really neat feeling as well. All in all, I really enjoyed it. Can’t wait until the 19th NHL game.
